Report by Keith Atkinson 27 June 2011

By way of a change Nottingham Rowing Club, having rowed on multi-lane courses in Nottingham, Peterborough and Dorney Lake, went to an old style side by side regatta at Ironbridge near the new town of Telford. The event is held on the River Severn, which had been having problems with low water levels due to the summer drought although it was rapidly being topped up by recent rains, including the Friday night. With 1000m on Saturday and 500m on Sunday there was plenty of exciting racing and the Club returned with six pots.

On Saturday there were wins for the Veteran E coxed four, the Intermediate 1 Double Scull stroked by Aidy Leibert and the Women’s Novice Sculls where Becca Rimmington had three races in two hours to win in her first ever sculling race.
