Melton cyclist Bex Rimmington has had a busy fortnight of racing. First off was the National Disability Track Championships in Newport, Bex was riding with new tandem stoker Jan Newman. Each disability category competes against each other, with the winner being determined by the person closest to their category's world record. Day 1 was the flying 200m, the pairing posted a new personal best time, and took a surprise bronze medal. Day 2, and the pair continued their good form by posting another personal best and claiming another bronze medal. Day...

April 2008

Wed, 21 May 2008 07:05:10 GMT - Category: News

Melton cyclist Bex Rimmington has been busy competing. At the end of April, she was racing for her Danish professional team Dames Fredericia CC at the first Grand Prix Elsy Jacobs in Luxembourg, and Grand Prix Stad Roeselare in Belgium. The race on the Saturday didn't quite go to plan as Bex lost contact with the group half way on the hilly course. The next day proved a lot better, with Bex finishing the race in a bunch of 30 of the 130km race, however since they were more than 10-minutes down on the winners they were not given a placing.

Season in Europe

Thu, 13 Mar 2008 18:10:43 GMT - Category: News

After completing my 2-week camp in Limoux, I am now at my new home in Tielt-Winge, Belgium. The life of being a bike rider means meeting so many different people, exploring new roads, learning new languages, and moving from place to place, living out of a suitcase. After only two days in the house, we were preparing for Alex's 21st birthday. Occassionally, full-time athletes are allowed to do 'wild' and crazy things, especially since we were having a wild west murder mystery party. So out came the piles of cardboard, and the cutting and designing began for the party. My ...

Training Camp In Limoux

Mon, 03 Mar 2008 12:00:24 GMT - Category: Training

Well it's almost race season, and I have departed for my season of racing in Europe. My first stop is a 2-week training camp with Team Swift Womens Professional Cycling Team in Limoux, France. Having completed my first week of training, it has been a great opportunity to explore new roads and terrain. It has also been my first experience of seeing the pyrenee's, and hopefully towards the end of the second week we will get the opportunity to venture up them!

Fri, 25 Jan 2008 16:06:23 GMT - Category: Training

Well 2008 is officially underway, and I have just completed my first training camp in Almeria, Spain. It was a great weeks worth of training in the mountains and sunshine, and bumping into the Rabobank Professional Team climbing Carboneras at the same time as us.

View from the top of the climb at Carboneras.

I now remain in the UK until February 25th, when I will be leaving for my second training camp in Limoux, Fran...
