I did enter the next day's event, which was to be a sporting 23. An accident meant a change of course AND MORE MILES! but not really really hilly just lumpy and fun. Some said it was a 25, some said it was a 26. Really strong winds but wonderful sunshine and I thought the morning was great (especially the tail wind finish), nice friendly atmosphere in the recently reburbished HQ at Weston with some awesome hand-dryers in the toilets!
It was a repeat of the results with Scott winning with a time of 57.18, Tony Taylor first on standard, Sue first lady. ...
Melton Olympics Bex Rimmington has been selected for the 2009 World Para-cycling Championships in Bogogno, Italy in September. The pairing of Rimmington and Lora Turnham impressed the GB selection panel with their results from the recent Europa Cup, to be selected for both the road race and the time trial.
Further good news followed, when both athletes were selected by British Cycling for the newly formed Paralympic Development Program which provides riders with the support they need to become world class athletes. Bex commented "I'm a...
Bex Rimmington was representing Great Britain at the Para-cycling Europa Cup in Piacenza, Italy at the weekend. Riding with visually impaired stoker Lora Turnham on the tandem the pairing started Saturday with the 72km criterium around the town centre. In 38 degree heat, it was the pairings first international outing against most riders who were in Beijing. The first few laps were active with different countries trying to separate the group, however it was the Irish and German pairings that got away leaving Bex and Lora with the Italians, Spanish and Canad...
Well here at the World Championships in Bordeaux at last! Mel and I had a small nightmare with flights, resulting in us finally arriving at the team hotel at midnight! However, we also found out we can run pretty rapidly as well....! Although I'm sure everyone must have been laughing at us as we ran all the way to the end of terminal 2, to find out we...
Bex’s elite debut for 2006 was at the Blenheim Triathlon in Oxfordshire. The race was set within the grounds of Blenheim Palace, which provided a splendid backdrop as competitors swam across the lake, and cycled and ran through the grounds of the park.
Bex got off to a great start leading the 750m swim with Henrietta Freeman and Karen Sindall hot in pursuit. Unfortunately, the lead Bex had going into transition was soon diminished as she struggled to get her wetsuit off. Exiting transition 3rd, Bex got into a small group of 3 on the bike, however...
Well the triathlon season is officially underway for Bex, with her first race-taking place at Stratford. This was the first race Bex did last year; so it would be a great benchmark to see the progression she has made over the winter months. The race comprises of a 400m-pool swim, 23km bike and 5km off-road run along the canal.
Straight away Bex established her lead exiting the water 2-minutes ahead of her nearest rival. Onto the bike, and a set of temporary traffic lights put pay to claiming the fastest bike split of the day, but a swift transition and a great run meant that Bex too...
