So the triathlon season for 2006 is finally underway. Having competed at both Stratford and Blenheim it was great to see how much of an improvement I have made in 12-months, and I am certainly looking forward to the rest of the season. There are still many areas of improvement, which is great to be able to say. I have posted my race reports from Stratford and Blenheim under the events section, so take a browse at them to see how it has all been going. Bex’s elite debut for 2006 was at the Blenheim Triathlon in Oxfordshire. The race was set within the grounds of Blenheim Palace, which provided a splendid backdrop as competitors swam across the lake, and cycled and ran through the grounds of the park.
Bex got off to a great start leading the 750m swim with Henrietta Freeman and Karen Sindall hot in pursuit. Unfortunately, the lead Bex had going into transition was soon diminished as she struggled to get her wetsuit off. Exiting transition 3rd, Bex got into a small group of 3 on the bike, however... |

Well the triathlon season is officially underway for Bex, with her first race-taking place at Stratford. This was the first race Bex did last year; so it would be a great benchmark to see the progression she has made over the winter months. The race comprises of a 400m-pool swim, 23km bike and 5km off-road run along the canal.
Straight away Bex established her lead exiting the water 2-minutes ahead of her nearest rival. Onto the bike, and a set of temporary traffic lights put pay to claiming the fastest bike split of the day, but a swift transition and a great run meant that Bex too... |
