Melton Olympics Bex Rimmington has been selected for the 2009 World Para-cycling Championships in Bogogno, Italy in September. The pairing of Rimmington and Lora Turnham impressed the GB selection panel with their results from the recent Europa Cup, to be selected for both the road race and the time trial.
Further good news followed, when both athletes were selected by British Cycling for the newly formed Paralympic Development Program which provides riders with the support they need to become world class athletes. Bex commented "I'm a... |

Bex Rimmington was representing Great Britain at the Para-cycling Europa Cup in Piacenza, Italy at the weekend. Riding with visually impaired stoker Lora Turnham on the tandem the pairing started Saturday with the 72km criterium around the town centre. In 38 degree heat, it was the pairings first international outing against most riders who were in Beijing. The first few laps were active with different countries trying to separate the group, however it was the Irish and German pairings that got away leaving Bex and Lora with the Italians, Spanish and Canad... |

Last weekend, Melton cyclist Bex Rimmington competed in the North Notts 25-mile time trial between Sutton-on-Trent and Long Bennington. In weather conditions far from ideal, Bex finally broke the magical one hour barrier in some style by recording a time of 57.27 to win the women's event by 2-minutes.

Melton cyclist Bex Rimmington has had a busy weekend of racing. Starting at Hull for their 10-mile time trial, Bex posted a best time of 22.17 to win a quality women's field. The following weekend was the CDLCA 10-mile time trial from Six hills to Widmerpool and back, Bex completed the course in 23.16 again winning the women's prize.

Melton cyclist Bex Rimmington competed in the International Disability Grand Prix of Wales on Sunday. Piloting visually impaired rider Tracey Hinton on the tandem, it was the pairings first competition together since Tracey has transferred over from athletics after competing in the Beijing Paralympics. With competitors travelling from as far as Canada, USA and Brazil it was the first competition for many competitors making the switch from other sports.

Bex Rimmington has been competing over the last two weekends. Firstly in the Leicestershire Series 10-mile time trial at Welland Valley, Bex completed the course in 25.17 placing 17th overall and claiming 1st in the women's section.
